Welcome to this episode of Subject to Change, with us - Esther and Annalise! In our final episode of the season we turn to talking about the city we’ve spent most of our 20s in so far - London. But fear not, even if you don’t live here, there will be plenty of relevant material for you. Esther discusses the human need for community and connection and the difficulty of finding these in big cities, and Annalise shares that the best networking often happens in the women’s toilets.

TW: discussion of bereavement, death and depression (though we promise there are moments of lightness and joy in this episode too!)

Welcome to this episode of Subject to Change, with us - Esther and Annalise! In this episode, we unpack how grief changes us and the grief that comes with change. In doing so Esther shares that she sees grieving like an elastic band, Annalise teaches us about ‘regrieving’ and ‘growing around grief’ and we go on an off-track detour into the theological problem of evil.

This episode is full of thoughts and experiences that we’re still working out. As such- please hold everything we say lightly. We’re probably wrong about some stuff.

    Jan 3 2024

Welcome to this episode of Subject to Change, with us - Esther and Annalise! This time, we get really gushy about our friendships - how do we value our friendships in a culture that places romantic relationships at the top of the relational pyramid? And how do we deal with our friendships transforming as we - and our friends - experience our own Big Life Changes? Tune in as we chat about these questions, and Annalise's tummy makes some grumbly noises in the middle of Esther's poignant thoughts.

Welcome to this episode of Subject to Change, with us - Esther and Annalise! In this episode we reflect on the power of rediscovering Fun in tough times, and reminisce about the day our flat transformed into an icy mountain peak. Annalise also ponders on importance of cake and Esther articulates The Secret to Life.

This episode is dedicated to our wonderful flatmates who made surviving multiple lockdowns possible.

No bears were harmed in the making of this podcast.

    Dec 13 2023

Welcome to this episode of Subject to Change, with Esther and Annalise. This is the podcast where two twenty-something friends explore what it looks like to live with authenticity, integrity and perspective in times of transition.

TW: Depression, anxiety and general mental health experiences throughout the episode; mention of suicide briefly at 3:45.

This episode is all about our brains! We talk about what mental health is, our experiences as young women in times of transition and what has helped us in the midst of change. We also learn that Annalise’s hair used to be inside her head, that Esther has discovered that she can’t think her way out of anxiety, and that ‘brain is brain and life is life’ (Anna Spence, nationally recognised exceptional human and friend of the pod).

Your mental health is important and deserves to be looked after. Please seek help if you need to. Reach out to a friend, family member, speak to your GP, contact a charity or seek professional help. We’ve linked some extra resources below.

  • An Introduction
    Dec 13 2023

Welcome to our very first episode of Subject to Change, with us - Esther and Annalise! This is the podcast where two twenty-something friends explore what it looks like to live with authenticity, integrity and perspective in times of transition.

In this episode we answer the question “Why are we here?”. Not in the existential sense, although we get close to that. No, this time we focus on what made us decide to start a podcast and the kind of things the coming episodes might contain. Esther makes the astute social observation that ‘we have a lot of bad things’, accuses Marian Keyes of writing too long a book, and Annalise gives the ultimate disclaimer that ‘you might hate this’.

    Thanks for listening!
