About this listen

EP 11 Stigma Around Men’s Mental Health

In this episode of the show, your hosts Shane Hyland and Gareth Shears welcome Aaron Corria, Director of Brotectors Ltd. Aaron is a sportsman who lives in Cardiff Bay , who battled depression himself for six years before speaking out. He has set up his own website called Brotectors along with the hashtag #WeGotThis to inspire other people to get help. Aaron is not a health professional, but his website has just given people the opportunity to share their experience. Just having someone to talk to makes a huge difference.

 In this episode Aaron shares:

  • How his depression led him to the brink of having suicidal thoughts
  • Why he launched his online campaign
  • Early signs of depression and how to overcome it
  • The massive stigma around men talking about their feelings
  • What’s next for Brotectors
  • Finding an accountability partner
