  • Years of Pain, One Diagnosis. Lily's Story
    Oct 12 2025

In this powerful episode of Stick Lounge Podcast, we sit down with Lily to hear her story—a journey that began when she was just 12 years old. For years, Lily experienced unexplained symptoms that left her in pain and confusion. Despite countless visits to doctors, she was repeatedly dismissed, told she was “fine,” and made to feel like it was all in her head.

It wasn’t until a series of unexpected events led her to discover endometriosis—a condition that affects millions of women but is often misunderstood and overlooked. Lily finally found someone who listened, validated her experience, and helped her get the care she desperately needed.

Just one month after her procedure, Lily is already feeling better than she has in years. Her story is a testament to resilience, advocacy, and the importance of being heard.

✨ Join us for this heartfelt conversation and help spread awareness. Women deserve to be believed. Endometriosis is real—and it’s time we treat it that way.

  • Purple Haze & Tribute Days! A Conversation with Randy Hansen
    Sep 28 2025

Stick Lounge Podcast had the pleasure of sitting down with legendary guitarist Randy Hansen and his longtime manager, Kevin Fillo. This unforgettable interview was a blast! Randy treated us to a personal performance right in the Stick Lounge, gifted former Des Moines Mayor Matt Pina a custom guitar, and shared incredible stories from his life, his tours, and the many fascinating people he’s met along the way.

Randy is not only an extraordinary talent—he’s also just a genuinely great guy. Kevin, one of Randy’s closest childhood friends, reluctantly stepped into the role of manager 42 years ago when Randy was ready to “hang it up.” Decades later, they’re still touring and sharing that original rock-and-roll sound with the world.

It’s inspiring to see that after all this time, Randy and Kevin remain best friends, still doing what they love—and loving every minute of it.

    From Randy’s website

“Born December 8, 1954 in Seattle, Washington Randy is a U.S. guitarist, best known for his emulation of Jimi Hendrix. He clearly has a bit of physical resemblance to Hendrix in his facial features, and carries that resemblance further by emulating such signatures of Hendrix's style as playing a guitar with his teeth or behind his back. His music appeared in the 1979 film Apocalypse Now, and his debut album was released in 1980 on Capitol Records.Hansen's high energy guitar work has earned praise from fellow Dutch-American, legendary guitarist, Eddie Van Halen (in Guitar Player magazine), among others. He also was a good friend of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan (writing a song about him called "Texas Twister" from his Old Dogs New Tricks CD). He has toured and played with literally hundreds of famous musicians and groups.

Hansen's Hendrix act first came to prominence with Randy Hansen's Machine Gun (1977–80), with Larry Epperly on bass guitar and Tim Kelliher on drums (Kelliher later did sessions for guitarist Daniel Jones in his band 7th Order, whose session personnel also included British guitarist Martin Pugh and veteran American rock guitarist Geoff Thorpe). All three had previously been in a band called Kid Chrysler and the Cruisers. Hansen's Machine Gun performed on bills with Heart, The Kinks, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and others, and were written up by Rolling Stone and Guitar Player. There are now videos out with Buddy Miles covering Hendrix tunes such as "All Along the Watchtower", with incredible playing by Hansen from 1997.

After his debut album, his emphasis continued to be on original releases emulating the Jimi Hendrix style of composition, in addition to including large numbers of Hendrix compositions in his live shows. He had a brief stint in the 1980s with a band that played a more contemporary style but, failing to gain a record contract of note, quickly returned to his main source of success as a Hendrix imitator. One of the high points of Hansen's career was when he played a short series of concerts with a band that included the original Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer, Mitch Mitchell. In the 1990s and into the 2000s, Hansen has increasingly turned to Europe for his live show tour dates due to greater interest from that market. He headlined a July 26, 2008 bill in Mannheim, Germany, with Love Street (Doors tribute) and Buried Alive Band (Janis Joplin tribute) as openers . He continues also to play locally in Seattle and around the U.S

Hansen has three self-released CDs of original music in print, none of them well-distributed but all available online: Old Dogs New Tricks, Good Intentions and Tower of Love. He continues to live in Seattle. There are some excellent on-line videos of Hansen and Uli Roth doing some Hendrix tunes showing great talent by both artists.”

  • "Pain Is Not Normal!" Talking Endometriosis with Dr. Brooke Winner.
    Sep 21 2025

Stick Lounge Podcast sits down with Dr. Brooke Winner. Dr. Winner is a fellowship-trained, board-certified, high-volume minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon. She is the founder of Full Spectrum Fibroid and Endometriosis. A quote from Dr. Winner, “I founded this clinic after hearing the exact same heartbreaking stories over and over from my patients. At first it made me sad, and now it just makes me mad. Women deserve so much better.” Dr. Brooke Winner came to us through a series of other interviews. My daughter had been struggling with pain and issues that we just could not figure out. We had seen multiple doctors and always received the same answer, “everything looks fine”. Thanks to our episode with Ms. Olympics Teen, Amara Drazkowski, We learned about a chronic condition that effects 1 in 10 women. Endometriosis. The symptoms that we learned about were exactly what my daughter was experiencing. After some research on our part, being referred to Dr. Winner, and a couple of appointments, my daughter was officially diagnosed. Dr. Winner performed my daughter’s surgery only 2 weeks ago as of writing this and she is already close to being fully healed from the operation and is doing SO MUCH BETTER! I thank everyone that has been involved in this journey for helping my daughter get answers and finally be heard. It has been life changing for my whole family.

Currently Stick Lounge Podcast, Dr. Winner, Amara, Senator Tina Orwall, and many others are working on legislation to help woman with this condition. Awareness is key! Please share this podcast with friends and family. Let’s help woman of all ages identify the source of their pain, finally be heard and hopefully cured.

  • Washington State Senator Tina Orwall!
    Jul 27 2025

Tina Orwall is a dedicated Washingtonian who has made a lifelong commitment to serving her community. From her early years growing up in Oak Harbor and Seattle, to now representing South King County in the Legislature, Tina’s connection to our state runs deep.

Throughout her career, Tina has carried a people-first attitude, advocating for the issues that matter most to Washingtonians. Tina graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in psychology and later earned a master’s in Social Work Administration. She committed herself to serving others, first as a clinical social worker advocating for individuals experiencing mental illness and homelessness. Her work with marginalized communities led her to the Washington State Legislature in 2009, where she began fighting for those who too often have their voices ignored.

In her role as a legislator, Tina has focused on advocating for the most vulnerable, with a special focus on veterans, women, youth, and survivors of sexual assault. She has fought to improve the justice system for victims of sexual violence, worked on suicide prevention programs, and led efforts to combat sex trafficking and illegal pornography. Tina isn’t afraid to tackle difficult issues that others shy away from, bringing critical attention to the challenges that impact so many Washingtonians.

Tina’s background in social work and psychology has made her a staunch advocate for inclusion and collaboration. She understands that real progress comes when we work together to find solutions to our state’s toughest problems. As Senator for District 33, she continues to fight for a safer, more diverse, and more inclusive Washington—a state where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

A wife and mother of two, Tina lives with her family in Des Moines, Washington. She has been an active member of the PTSA and a strong advocate for school levies, demonstrating her commitment to her children’s education. Her daughter is now pursuing a master’s degree in special education at the University of Washington, and her son is training as a commercial electrician. Tina’s dedication to her family reflects her deep belief in the importance of strong communities.

  • From Law to Politics! Harry has You Covered!
    Jul 20 2025

    MEET HARRY

Hi, I’m Harry Steinmetz, and I’m honored to serve as your Deputy Mayor and City Councilmember during one of the most challenging chapters in Des Moines’ history.

Since 2022, our city has faced leadership changes, budget shortfalls, and the long tail of the pandemic. Through it all, I’ve stayed focused on what matters: transparency, accountability, and delivering real results for our community.

I helped balance the city’s budget while protecting core services like public safety. As a member of the Public Safety Emergency Committee, I’ve supported increased police staffing and helped expand behavioral health response programs—because keeping our neighborhoods safe requires both strength and compassion. While crime has risen in many cities, we’re seeing real progress here at home.

I’ve also championed long-term investments in our future: revitalizing downtown, streamlining the permit process, and advancing key projects like the Marina Steps and Redondo Pier. These are steps toward a more vibrant and accessible Des Moines for everyone.

I’m honored to be endorsed by a growing list of respected leaders across our region, including 33rd LD Democrats, former State Senator Karen Kaiser, State Senator Tina Orwall, Representative Mia Gregerson, Lands Commissioner David Upthegrove, Senator Claire Wilson, and numerous current and former elected officials from Des Moines, Burien, and SeaTac—all of whom believe in my commitment to community, public safety, and responsible leadership.

I respectfully ask for your vote.

    ABOUT HARRY

Des Moines has been my family’s home for 26 years. It’s where my wife Kristin and I raised our two sons—and it’s why I’m deeply committed to assuring protecting what makes this city special while guiding it toward a future that works for all of us.

As your Deputy Mayor and City Councilmember, I’ve helped lead Des Moines through one of the most significant periods of transition in our city’s history—navigating leadership changes, pandemic recovery, and tough financial decisions. My background as an Administrative Law Judge, private attorney, former health care advocate, and small business owner of 18 years gives me a strong foundation in both public service and real-world problem-solving.

On Council, I’ve prioritized revitalizing our downtown and marina, improving the permitting process, supporting public safety, and expanding behavioral health response programs. I’ve worked hard to ensure our budget protects essential services while setting us up for long-term success.

Des Moines deserves leadership that listens to everyone, leads with integrity, and puts community first. I’d be honored to earn your vote. Let’s keep Des Moines safe, vibrant, and strong—for today and for the next generation.
