  • Punishment Park (1971): The one where we learn to get scared again
    Sep 15 2025

The story so far: After spending this much time trapped in a small, underground VHS rental store, Greg’s worried that he can’t feel any more.

Welp. We recorded this a week ago and, yeah, the world’s only getting crazier.

This week, we discuss the 1971 pseudo-documentary Punishment Park, a film that anticipates American fascism by pretending that due process is abandoned so that cops can take their rage out on minorities and activists. Sounds totally implausible, right? Right?? But don’t worry! If that all sounds too heavy we also find a way to keep from maulding too much (it involves a plastic whoopee cushion. Don’t worry about it, it’ll all make sense, just listen). Is it a masterful film that deserves every bit of our attention? Yes! Is it an incredibly difficult watch that will haunt us for months? Also yes! Enjoy?

  • Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (2006): Goblin up to get down
    Sep 8 2025

The story so far: Three boys are trapped in an underground movie store run by a moleman named MoleMan and bide their time watching trash films and going on stupid adventures.

This week, Eric is still out on some sort of mission...maybe?...but we're visited by a new underground-dwelling friend, Jarrett the Goblin King! And since we can't decide what movie to watch, Jarrett decides for us and we pop in the meta-horror mocumentary Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon! Join us as we shower some love onto the film and its found footage/documentary style, while still finding the yannick imagery in Pokemon and discuss how we might murder Dan in the library! All hail the Goblin king!

If you dig us, why not check out our other podcast Greg's Cryptid Corner? It's fun, has the same hosts, and we talk about spooky monsters that Greg believes are real and Eric and Dan are still skeptical of. It's fun. You'll like it. Go subscribe.

  • Hard to Kill (1990): Steven Seagal is the best revenge
    Sep 1 2025

The story so far: Three boys are trapped in an underground movie store run by a moleman named MoleMan and bide their time watching trash films and going on stupid adventures.

This week, Eric is missing again, so we cope by watching Hard to Kill (1990) starring someone we've never had on the show before: Steven Seagal! Will his charisma-less acting win us over, or will we veer too far of track discussing action movie character names, ways to shave a patient in a seven-year coma, divorced dad energy, and how there's no such thing as too many squibs!

  • Jacob's Ladder (1990): Existentialism on movie night
    Aug 25 2025

The story so far: The boys are trapped in an underground movie store run by an anthropomorphic moleman. After a year of insane adventures, they start questioning where they might truly be...

Magic mole scrolls and random scrawlings litter the place down here, so we dig through in the hopes of figuring out what Moleman might be hiding. But then the existential dread hits us...and what if we're actually in the afterlife? Like Lost? No...probably more like Jacob's Ladder (1990)! So we pop it in the VCR and ruminate on our lives by discussing our chiropractor experiences, Greg's history with My Girl, our favorite Albert Camus books, and An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge! Get comfy, pop some headphones in, and come get sad with us!

  • Night Screams (1987): Screaming in profanities
    Aug 18 2025

The story so far: Trapped in an underground video store for more than a year has brought the boys closer through movies and adventure, but they still need their beauty sleep.

Sleepy time is ruined with Dan's night terrors, and the only thing we know how to do is watch movies to figure out how to fix problems, so we pop in Night Screams from 1987 to hopefully solve Dan's screaming issue! How is this 80s cheapo slasher? What's the connection between the tip of a man's nose and the the tip of his...um...you know...? Should you squash your meat on the grill or keep your hands off it? And would you buy a podcast on vinyl? So wake up, chill out, and join us for this quintessential slasher film that I had never heard of before.

  • The Devil Rides Out (1968): Pomp and Satan-stance
    Aug 11 2025

The story so far: Still stuck in the magical movie hole, Eric uses his book of magical mole-scrolls (they're scrolls with magic incantations written on them by the underground mole people... it's a whole thing) to try to get rid of the pesky pig tail he was cursed with by the demon from a few episodes ago. What could go wrong?

Hello, friends! It's us, the Stabby crew, here with another wacky adventure through another zany movie. This week we're all charmed, amused, and buttled by 1968's satanic thriller The Devil Rides Out. Christopher Lee (young Saruman) and his best friend battle against a cabal of evil satanists who are hell-bent on converting new baby-faced recruits. Along the way, we discuss how charming 60's-era depictions of satanism can be, good opening lines to impress the devil, how blood orgies actually seem kind of fun, and that butlers have rights, too. I spent more than a minute trying to think of a sentence to close this paragraph with and nothing is coming to me so here you go. Hope you like it!

  • Blue Velvet (1986): Don't You Look At Me!
    Aug 4 2025

This week the boys are on thin ice – Moleman is back and thinking about evicting them. Can they win him over and convince him to stick around for a movie night featuring one of his favorite directors?

Join the gang as they peel back the pastel-painted layers of suburban America’s seedy underbelly in Blue Velvet. Do the chicken walk with Kyle MacLachlan, debate whether Curious George has a tail, and find out what Werner Herzog eats for breakfast.

Stick around for plenty of gushing over David Lynch’s twisted classic, because in Lumberton… it really is a strange world.

  • Way Bad Stone (1991): MoleMama, I'm coming home
    Jul 28 2025

The story so far: Trapped underground in a magical molehole video store for over a year, our boys are missing what they used to have...

This week, we reminisce about our old Magic Box that got swept away in a tornado, so we use a magical mole scroll to try summon it back. But it doesn't go to plan. We learn a bit more about MoleMan's history, but end up having to watch the SOV fantasy/sword-and-sorcery LARPing movie Way Bad Stone! Will we be wrapped up into the Ren Faire goodness of this charming film, or will we get distracted talking about every-occasion costumes and the butt-goosing soldier behind enemy lines? And why do we have to fill Eric in about the last 35 minutes of the movie?! Join us and find out!
