Although born with a defect in his spine, Joseph did not allow his painful deformities to keep him from living a vibrant life of self-sacrifice and spiritual renewal. Recognizing his own mortality he ministered most especially to those who were imprisoned and condemned to death. Offering Reconciliation and the hope of heaven to criminals who wished to convert before their execution.
