About this listen
Castle Pines was an indie rock band from the Corona area and Inland Empire whose formation began in the early 2010s. The band consisted of Leandro Barrientos on Vocals and Rhythm Guitar, Niki Barrientos on Lead Guitar, Jesse Briseno on Bass, and Sterling Fairfield on Drums. The band gained local traction and built a community, releasing a collection of live recordings from shows at The Wire. They released their first album, Bless This House, in 2010 on SoundCloud. In 2014, they released an album called Summer Blood.
This episode is about Kurt's experience at that concert, and the profound effect that Castle Pines had on a tight community and its music scene in Southern California.
Thank you to Ricky Garvey for his expertise and hard work on mixing this episode. Live shows are difficult to get usable tracks for, but he exceeded our expectations.
Thank you to Leandro, Niki, Jesse, Sterling, and Ricky for putting on an incredible show and providing us all with incredible music.
Credit to Victor Duran Photography for his excellent photos of the performance.
