About this listen

Sinzia Reese talks about her sheltered life in rural Gilboa, NY. In her childhood, she spent summers playing manhunt and diving off "pride rock" into the Schoharie Creek. As a teen, a violent tragedy involving a family member pushed her to leave home and find solace and anonymity hundreds of miles away in Providence, RI. Sinzia shares how coming home, recovering from surgery, and learning to crochet (a craft passed down from her mother and grandmother) helped her heal physically and emotionally, and find a new appreciation for her quiet home in the hills.

[CONTENT WARNING: This episode discusses violence]
