  • Know Your Value
    Sep 11 2025

If we don't speak highly of ourselves, how can we expect other people to? Know your Value.

Scotland's Women chats to Julie Cullen, an experienced coach who transitioned from a long career in engineering and corporate leadership to helping women navigate professional and personal change. Julie opens up about her own journey, including the shock and emotional impact of redundancy after 20 years in a single corporation, and how that pivotal moment led her to pursue her passion for coaching.

Julie explains the common challenges faced by women in the workplace, such as self-doubt, lack of confidence, and the fear of change. And how many of her clients come to her not necessarily lacking confidence, but struggling with doubts about their abilities. Julie shares her five-step coaching framework with us, which begins with understanding a client’s goals and the obstacles holding them back, and then works to shift mindsets and behaviours to achieve meaningful progress.

The importance of recognising one’s own value is important, especially in environments where women may feel overlooked or hesitant to “sell themselves.” Julie emphasis that it's important to accept praise, owning achievements, and reframing negative self-talk.
