    SUMMARY OF THE PLAY

Greg and Kate, a long-married upper middle-class couple, are in a period of readjustment. They have just sent the last of the brood off to college and moved to the city to enjoy their new freedom and jumpstart their lives. While Kate's teaching career is taking off, Greg has reached a terrible point when his job doesn't satisfy and his marriage is growing stale, and he doesn't know where to turn. He has lost his inner compass. Battle lines are drawn when Greg begins to view a little dog named Sylvia as a lifeline and Kate as the obstacle in his path to a more meaningful life. Soon Greg must choose between wife and dog.
