About this listen
According to an interview with writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, a pivotal scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home was changed after they discovered a fan on Reddit had correctly guessed their original plan.
Initially, Doctor Strange was supposed to be the one to find the other Spider-Men (played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) and bring them to Tom Holland's Peter Parker, acting as a "master of ceremonies" to unite the heroes.
However, when the writers saw a Redditor accurately predict this exact scenario, they felt the idea was too obvious and would feel like simple "fan service." To create a more surprising and emotionally impactful moment, they rewrote the scene.
In the final version of the film, it is Peter's friends, Ned and MJ, who accidentally summon the other Peters while trying to find their friend using Doctor Strange's sling ring. The writers felt this change made the reunion more personal and resonant, as it was Peter's friends—not a powerful wizard—who came to his aid in his darkest moment.
