I’m an atheist. I don’t believe in the Bible, and I don’t buy into heaven, hell, or “God’s standards.” But I do believe in compassion over cruelty—and on that front, I’ll give credit where it’s due. The United Methodist Church (UMC) has taken steps toward inclusion of women and LGBTQ people, and that’s worth celebrating.
In this video, I dismantle a rant from the channel In Layman Terminology, which claims the UMC has “fallen,” blames women pastors and “effeminate men,” and calls LGBTQ Christians agents of Satan. We’ll walk through his arguments, fact-check his misuse of scripture, and highlight how fear-based altar calls and clobber texts get weaponized. I may even mispronounce a few Greek words along the way.
This isn’t about defending Christianity—I don’t believe in it. But I do believe people deserve better than bigotry disguised as doctrine.
