About this listen
Historic Emory Grove, Maryland was founded by freed African Americans in 1864. It was a vibrant and tight-knit community that hosted social events and spiritual revivals in the atlantic region. Urban renewal of the 1960s brought structural racism and poverty. Today, members of the community, including those who belong to the Emory Grove United Methodist Church, are working to restore the soul of Emory Grove through homeownership. Pastor Tim Warner, Carolyn Taylor, and Steve Hudson join the FAMI podcast.
