About this listen

Life is often a grind. We rise. We work. We eat. We sleep. We accumulate. We repeat until we've achieved some variation of the "American Dream." In our society, this makes perfect sense.

We work until we do not want to work or do not have to work; then we enjoy our lives; then we pass the remaining wealth along to our children. They rinse and repeat. If we raised them right, they will do it a little (or a lot) better, then continue the cycle.

This all makes sense, but is it Biblical? Should this model be our definition of success? Jesus has a lot to say about this in Luke 12, and it is challenging and convicting.

I (Michael) love the Word of God as it so often shines a small light in the darkest corner of our hearts, gently teaching, convicting, correcting and instructing the body of believers on how to truly live our "best life" (2 Timothy 3:16). Closely listen to Jesus and His teachings, and you'll see this best life is a life of humility, selflessness, sacrifice, and service. It's abandoning everything in devotion to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I waited and prayed about releasing this episode after recording it. I considered re-recording it, as I could've said some things better, and I forgot to make a few other points. Ultimately It's not an easy conversation, but I believe it's one that needs to be had. Selfishly, this podcast is often about my own personal growth. It's a way for me to process what I'm wrestling with in God's Word, then simply taking the listeners along for the ride. I pray that it challenges and encourages you as much as it has me.
