About this listen
Welcome back to the podcast! I’m Dr. Tracy Kim Townsend, and in this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Balazs Szigeti. With a background in physics and a PhD in data science, Dr. Szigeti has pioneered "self-blinding," a unique methodology allowing self-experimenters to create their own placebo control. He led the largest placebo-controlled study on psychedelic microdosing and is currently a clinical data scientist at UCSF's Translational Psychedelic Research Program.
In this episode, we dive into:
- The science behind self-blinding and how it works
- Is microdosing more than a placebo effect?
- The role of decentralized science in psychedelic research
- Psychedelics for individuals without clinical mental health diagnoses
- The cost vs. value of psychedelic therapy and treatment standards
