The Embraer E190 aircraft, operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, was initially scheduled to fly from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic in Russia. However, adverse weather conditions in Grozny forced the flight to alter its course. The plane was attempting to land when it crashed under unclear circumstances.
Azerbaijan Airlines confirmed that 72 individuals were aboard the flight, comprising 67 passengers and 5 crew members. Initial reports from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations indicate that 25 people have been transported to local hospitals for medical attention.
