Waynesville stands at the intersection of growth and responsibility as Mayor Sean Wilson unveils a crucial proposal to strengthen our emergency services. The solution? A one-cent sales tax proposed for the August 2025 ballot that would generate approximately $450,000 annually without affecting property taxes or grocery purchases (if Senate Bill 57 passes). This modest contribution—just ten cents on a $10 purchase—would fund critical improvements to our police department, fire services, emergency dispatch systems, and animal control operations.
