  • S02-EP#12- Thomas Legrand-Politics of being: an invitation to develop our inner self and inner values
    Sep 20 2022

After a break I am happy to come back with a new episode and a new interview.

I had so many breakthroughs while reading books and today I am happy to introduce you to the impressive work done by Thomas Legrand on his book Politics of being: Wisdom and Science for a New Paradigm. He is a social scientist, and a UN sustainable expert on preservation of our forest.

Reading his book was eye opening on the multiple crisis we are facing now. All indicators show that we face an end of our model based on performance, competition and disconnection with nature.

In Politics of being Thomas refers to wisdom teachers and scientist all converge to say that the key problem of our complex world and societies is that we gave too much attention to our external and material world and we neglected our moral ethics, our inner values and inner development as human beings.

Invest in “being more” than “having more” or “doing more” could resume the essence of his book.

What would be the next model to create to preserve ourselves and our planet? What values and should we develop? What changes to make in ourselves?

In our exchange we discuss notably about:

-His own spiritual path and his key learnings/integration from indigenous wisdom

-How spiritual values such as compassion, peace, well-being are being already leveraged by some political or social change initiatives in some countries or at International level. We notably referred to the Mindfulness Initiative (https://www.themindfulnessinitiative.org) and the Inner Developement Goals (.https://www.innerdevelopmentgoals.org/)

-What soft skills professionals involved in peace making ie diplomats I am supporting need to develop to better respond to world crises.

It was an inspiring conversation happy listening!
