Untreated edema can lead to more severe problems such as stasis dermatitis, discomfort/pain, venous ulcerations, progressed lymphedema and decreased mobility. By recognizing and intervening early, we as clinicians can make a significant impact on quality of life for our clients and possibly prevent the progression of this disease. Through improving your assessment skills at the bedside, you can empower your patients to make a significant change in the trajectory of their livelihood.
