Johannes Kaasa (f. 1955) er matematiker, i tillegg til at han er interessert i historie, uløste gåter og merkelige hendelser. Han er oppvokst i Larvik og Brasil, men bor nå i Oslo. Den gotiske krimromanen «Beistet» var hans debutbok, og i tillegg til å ha kommet ut på dansk ble den dessuten kjøpt inn av Kulturrådet og nominert til Maurits Hansen-prisen.
