 Nándor Hidegkuti è stato il centravanti arretrato della “Aranycsapat”, la Squadra d’oro, come veniva chiamata la Grande Ungheria di Puskas, Kocsis e Czibor. Farlo giocare come attaccante di manovra dietro a due punte vere è stata un’intuizione fondamentale per creare il mito magiaro e ispirare l’evoluzione tattica moderna, dal “falso nueve” al “tiki-taka”. Da allenatore ha vinto una Coppa delle Fiere (poi Coppa delle Coppe) con la Fiorentina, per poi approdare in sordina al Mantova.
