Tensions between Iran and Israel escalated on Saturday night after reports emerged that Iran launched attacks against Israel.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the attacks are involving unmanned aircraft launched from Iranian territory towards Israel. The confirmation of attacks has raised concerns about the potential for a regional war.

"We are monitoring the threat in the airspace. It is a threat that takes several hours to reach the territory of the State of Israel," said IDF.

Bitcoin price fell more than 7% on the news. The price action was testing 3-week lows below $62,000. At the time of writing, Bitcoin price was down 6.4% on the day.

The recent hostilities follow heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, particularly since the start of the war in Gaza in October.

Accusations and counter-accusations have escalated, with Iran accusing Israel of an attack on its consulate in Damascus on April 1.

Investors will be following developments in this region quite closely amid the potential for further escalation and instability in the region.

Bitcoin supply growth is set to drop below 1% for the first time ever next month, when the ‘halving event’ gets underway, underscoring the popular crypto’s scarcity premium and likely fueling the current bull run just as institutional investors join the race to ‘hodl’ the popular crypto.

"Bitcoin supply growth is currently about 1.7% and that will be reduced to a bit under 1% for the first time in bitcoin history,” at the next halving event, expected “sometime on April 17”, Director of Education and Governance Initiatives at Web3 Foundation told Investing.com’s Yasin Ebrahim in an interview on Thursday.

Halving events, which occur once every four years, cut the amount of bitcoin that is produced on the bitcoin blockchain, or network, by miners in half --- hence, ‘halving.’

Bitcoin is coming up on new all time highs.


The price hit a session high of $65,537 early in Europe, having already hit a new two-year high in Asian trading. It was last up 4% at $65,045. Bitcoin hit a record $68,999.99 in November 2021.

The largest cryptocurrency by market value has gained 50% this year and most of the rise come in the last few weeks where inflows into U.S.-listed bitcoin funds have surged.

Spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds were approved in the United States earlier this year. Their launch opened the way for new large investors and has re-ignited enthusiasm and momentum reminiscent of the run up to record levels in 2021.
