About this listen

Welcome to Moline Method Mic’d — where functional medicine meets real life.

I’m Kelly Moline: pharmacist turned functional medicine consultant, wife, and new mom figuring it out in real time. My husband’s here too — mostly to keep me from nerding out too hard (and to ask the questions you're probably thinking).

We talk gut stuff, hormones, motherhood, natural living, and all the weird-but-helpful wellness tools no one explained in health class.

Whether you’re prepping for pregnancy, deep in postpartum, or just trying to have more energy than your toddler — you’re in the right place.

Hit play, feel seen, and maybe even laugh a little. Let’s simplify this health thing together.

  • Boats, Babies, and What Led Me to Functional Medicine
    Jul 16 2025

We spent our first 4th of July with a 5-month-old—and what was supposed to be an hour on Landon’s boat turned into an all-day adventure with friends, babies, sunburns... and not enough snacks. 😅 I nursed almost the whole time to keep our baby hydrated (thank you, Texas heat), but I didn’t pack nearly enough food for myself—and definitely paid the price by the end of the day.

This week, we’re talking about what functional medicine actually is—how it differs from conventional medicine, and how I ended up leaving retail pharmacy to pursue this root-cause approach. After seeing so many patients on multiple prescriptions who still weren’t feeling better—and counseling women who were doing everything “right” and still not losing weight—I knew there had to be more to the story.

We chat about hormone health, gut health, detox pathways, and why just treating symptoms doesn’t always get results. We also bust a few common myths (no, functional medicine isn’t just vibes—it’s science-based when done right!) and answer some listener questions. And of course… Landon brings the dad joke of the day to close things out.

  • First Foods, Leaky Guts & What It Really Takes to Heal
    Jul 9 2025

Our baby is 5 months old, so it’s time to start thinking about first foods! In this episode, we share our plans to introduce solids in a way that supports her gut health from the very beginning—think meat stock, gentle veggies, and nutrient-dense options before diving into the fun stuff (Landon’s dreaming of torturing her with lemons already 😅).

We also dive into leaky gut—what it actually is, why it’s so common, and how the symptoms can sneak up in unexpected ways (like fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, or mood swings). We cover some supplements that can help support gut healing—check out the full protocol on MolineMethod.com via our Fullscript link (with 10% off as a thank you for supporting our small biz 💛).

Landon gets a surprise list of lifestyle changes he might not be ready for (but they’re simple enough to try!), and we wrap up with a listener question about how gut health can impact mental health—plus, Landon’s dad joke of the day!

  • Postpartum Depression for Moms and Dads: Our Story, What Helped, and Why It’s Okay to Struggle
    Jul 2 2025

This week, we’re diving into something so many new parents go through but don’t always talk about—postpartum depression (yes, it can affect dads too!).

We share our personal experiences during those early months—what caught us off guard, what helped us cope, and how it felt to solo parent while the other was away (shoutout to the boys’ trip and bachelorette weekend 😂).

    Inside the episode:

    • How postpartum can feel heavy even when you're deeply grateful
    • Signs to look for in yourself or your partner
    • The lifestyle, diet, and supplement strategies that made a difference for us
    • And a reminder that there’s zero shame in needing support—whether that’s therapy, medication, or just a really good cry

Whether you're in the thick of it or supporting someone who is, we hope this conversation makes you feel seen and supported.
