• Nick Butter - The Man who ran the world
    Feb 22 2021

Broken bones, muggings at gunpoint, being locked up, attacked by dogs, shot at, the list continues... The endless tales of perseverance and resilience led this man to accomplish a dream.

The first man to run a marathon in every country in the world.

On November 10th 2019 Nick took the title as the first and only person to run a full marathon distance in every country in the world, and did so in just 23 months. He and his bag travelled alone for 674 days, running 2 or 3 marathons in 2 or 3 countries, every week, for 96 weeks. This huge world record came after over 44,000km of previous crazy expeditions, years of training and plenty of set backs. And he's not stopping there...

  • Jen Orr - Moving the goal posts and world records
    Feb 15 2021

Jen is an ultracyclist, who took up cycling in 2010 when he decided to sign up for her first triathlon. Although she had already been doing some running and swimming, once she started spending some time on a road bike, she quickly found that cycling was her strength and something that she enjoyed more than the other two sports.  She continued competing in triathlons for several years, completing multiple Ironman races. In 2017, she was burned out on the long hours of training for three different sports, and decided to just focus on cycling, and to do it for fun rather than competition. One of her close cycling friends and mentors, Paul Cornish, who set the world record for the fastest ride across the United States in 1973 was killed by a motorist in Oceanside, CA. In the aftermath of his death, another friend persuaded her to sign up for the 6-12-24 Hour World Time Trial Championships (WTTC) in Borrego Springs, CA. With minimal training or preparation, she rode 392.4 miles in 24 hours to take 4th place overall in the solo female division and qualify for solo Race Across America (RAAM).

In 2018, Jen broke the course record at the 24 hour World Time Trial Championships with a ride of 456 miles. In June 2019, she won the solo division of Race Across the West from Oceanside, CA to Durango, CO.

Her goal is to now train and prepare for the race this year and have her sights set on RAAM 2022.

  • Will Gadd- Managing Risk
    Jan 18 2021

Will is an all-round action hero Will Gadd is a living legend in the truest sense. Year after year, he continually pushes the boundaries of ice climbing and, even after having won every major title from the World Cup to the Winter X Games, he still manages to impress.

A veteran of the sport, Will continues to seek new adventures and seems to have a boundless energy. In 2010, he once again proved his pedigree by climbing a 130ft [39.62m ice wall solidly for 24 hours at the Ouray Ice Festival in Colorado, reaching a total height of 25,414ft [7.75km].

Eager to rise to a fresh challenge, Will also broke the world distance record on a paraglider not once, but three times. He was also the first person to cross the US by paraglider after a gruelling seven-week trek.

His hunger for adventure doesn’t stop there however – he can turn his hand to almost every outdoor sport such as rock and ice climbing, kayaking, mountaineering, caving, Nordic and Alpine skiing and mountain biking.

These days, Will likes to set himself more creative challenges. “I’ve done enough, won as much as I need to,” he says. “I’m at a point now where I feel like I have a lot less to prove.” All he wants to do now is take what he’s learned and apply it in the most interesting locations on Earth.

One of those interesting locations was Greenland, where Gadd spent time climbing underneath the Greenland Ice Sheet, to help a scientist out of South Florida by the name of Jason Gulley, better understand the effects of climate change on some of the world’s largest ice sheets.

In 2019, Gadd made the notable feat of scaling Della Falls. The falls, accessed by boat in the remote reaches of Vancouver Island, boasts a vertical drop of over 1,400 feet, making it the largest waterfall in Canada.

Gadd currently resides in Jasper, Alberta where he continues to push the limits of ice climbing, paragliding, skiing and mountaineering while also operating a full-time guiding service in his beloved backyard.
