About this listen

Welcome back to another episode of the You're Not Alone Podcast!

We are joined by Michael, sharing his story of recovery with Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). GBS is a rare autoimmune disorder in which the body begins attacking its own nerves, resulting in weakness, numbness, paralysis, and can potentially become fatal.

Before GBS, Michael spent hours practicing meditation, yoga, hiking, and traveling. GBS stopped him right in his tracks, paralyzing his right side.

Thankfully, his mother was a physical therapist and provided him sound advice: "Listen to the diagnosis, and ignore the prognosis."

Michael has spent countless hours in physical therapy to regain his function and is working hard toward his goal of walking independently again. Michael is candid about living life with GBS and how he manages to remain resilient on his journey.

Thank you, Michael, for sharing your story!
