Alas, THE COLONEL has been called back to undertake waterboard training sessions and will not be able to continue broadcasting memorable movie scores of a weekend. The Good Lady Lawyer her Indoors - Mrs Colonel - has put her foot down. MIND the SCORE however, will feature in a 10 minute SPECIAL segment at the top of the show at 9am - on THE COLONEL's Wednesday TWaT (tues, wed and thur) show. But if you shout loud enough and pledge money to KPCR.org on the Signal Society, perhaps I can placate MrsColonel with some wine gums. This Saturday we were in pledge mode for Pirate Cat Radio - and talking about Cowboys (wink emoji) we did a retrospective of great Western movies - mainly Morricone, but a slice of Bernstein, Goldsmith and Barry - the grandmasters of cinema with sweeping vast scores. Another Saturday hour of tea, scones (cream on first then jam - you heathens who think differently) and THE COLONEL playing his fave tracks from movies and telly. A few of the guv'nors were of course present and correct including God Barry, Quincy Jones, Henry Mancini and Lalo Schifrin. But a bit of current listening pleasure too in the form of London boy James Blake from the very peculiar but riveting "Sinners". Due to an administration cock up by one of the adjutants, there will be a show next Saturday as The Colonel's Hercules won't be leaving for The Deathstar until the day after the show - which will be a glorious John Barry retrospective...

We started with the best Bond opening tune that never was, caught up with The Man who would be King and "Peachy", stayed with Michael Caine with The Ipcress file, dabbled with a bit of TV with a splash of Jason King and Mannix then even managed to find some difficult jazz from The Architect.
