  • Leila Ellice
    Sep 5 2025

In the episode, I chat with my photographer/artist friend, Leila Ellice (fun fact: she and I met about ten years ago, when I walked into her and her husband’s donut shop in Katy to buy coffee and donut holes). We did some long-overdue catching up, then talked about what the work life is like for her as a mom of three and a freelance photographer. I absolutely enjoyed our conversation, and I'm excited to finally share it with y'all!

  • Rubi Guanlao
    Sep 7 2023

Welcome back to a new (and hella overdue) episode of the Love Made Visible Podcast! For this episode, I had the pleasure of talking to Rubi Guanlao Morgan. I had met Ruby at the Women of the World Poetry Slam in Dallas back in 2020. She’s an amazing writer and spoken word poet. But she is also a therapist! And she was kind enough to talk to me about how she balances those two areas of her life – her creativity and her profession in social work.

You can find Rubi on Instagram to say hi! @rubi.guanlao

  • Ryan McMasters
    Apr 7 2023

In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure of talking to Ryan McMasters! Aside from being an immensely talented writer and poet, Ryan is one of the kindest people I've ever met, and it was just pure joy to get to sit down with him for this conversation. We talked a little bit about his experience growing up in the Christian church, his years in college, and the experiences that drew him into the poetry community.

Because of time and topic constraints, I had to take out some of the things Ryan and I talked about while I was editing this audio, but we had some really interesting discussions in those parts of our interview, so I'm going to be publishing that portion as a special short episode - or, in Ryan's words, a "conversation lilypad" - at the end of this season. So be sure to subscribe to the podcast and follow it on Instagram so you can keep an eye out for that episode!

He is also a teacher at Writers in the Schools and a coach for Meta-Four Houston Youth Poetry Slam Team. In this episode, we discuss the early days of his career, learning and growing alongside other incredible spoken word poets, and his journey to becoming Houston's fifth Poet Laureate.
