About this listen

Welcome to Life Lessons in Hindsight, the podcast where we explore the wisdom that comes from looking back — because midlife is the perfect time to reflect, refocus, and recalibrate your dreams. I’m Teresia, a certified life and mindset coach for women over 40. If you’re like me, by this point you have worn many hats: I’ve been a nurse practitioner, worked in public health and chemical engineering; and I’m also a mum, ex-wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Like you, I’ve experienced the highs of success and the hard knocks of life – each experience has offered a lesson. Let’s unpack the stories that have shaped us and learn from them so we can thrive in our next chapter.

  • 8. How to Escape a Shame Spiral
    Aug 21 2025

Welcome back to Life Lessons in Hindsight, I took a bit of a break this summer but am excited to be back here with you. In this newest episode, I share a story about helping my college-bound son break free from a cycle of shame and how it reminded me of the same work I need to keep doing in my own life. What I’ve realized is that shame isn’t the real problem, negative emotions aren’t the real problem, instead, the real problem is when we get stuck in them—paralyzed, hiding, and unable to move forward. Whether it’s in parenting, relationships, career, or body image, staying in a shame spiral costs us time, opportunities, and joy. If you’ve ever found yourself hiding, avoiding, or replaying the same negative emotion over and over, this episode is a reminder that the way out isn’t waiting to “feel ready”, it’s taking the smallest next step and giving your brain something new to focus on.

  • 7. Emotional Resilience: Why Doing Hard Things Is the Path to Growth
    Jun 26 2025

There was a time I couldn’t even imagine recording a single podcast episode, and now here we are, at episode seven. In this short and reflective solo episode, I’m celebrating the power of starting before you’re ready and diving into a topic that comes up often in my coaching work: emotional resilience. We’ll explore what resilience really means (hint: it’s not just a mindset), how to recognize your own resilience style, and why avoiding discomfort might be costing you growth. If you’ve ever told yourself “I could never do that,” this episode is for you.

  • 6. How to Build Financial Autonomy and Trust Yourself With Big Decisions
    Jun 12 2025

In this episode, I’m sharing a deeply personal story that taught me a powerful lesson about autonomy, decision-making, and self-trust. We’re exploring how easy it is to give up our power, especially around finances, without even realizing it. Then, I also want to show you what it looks like to take it back with clarity and confidence. Through the lens of a recent solo car purchase, I reflect on how I used to outsource big decisions (financial and otherwise) in my marriage, and how I’ve grown into a woman who now takes the lead in her own life. This isn’t just about buying a car, it’s about building the internal muscle to make aligned decisions, even when you feel uncertain or uncomfortable. Whether you’re navigating divorce, reclaiming your voice in relationships, or simply working to trust yourself more deeply, this episode is a gentle nudge to ask better questions, make decisions on purpose, and lead yourself through fear, not away from it.
