About this listen
Dominique and Helene are very familiar with the suffering and stigma that is associated with having a chronic illness as they both suffer from Endometriosis and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Dominique was diagnosed with Endometriosis in July of 2019 via laparoscopy & endometrial excision. She has since undergone multiple procedures in order to obtain the best quality of life. Helene was also diagnosed with Endometriosis in August of 2018 and has since been diagnosed with PCOS and Adenomyosis. Helene has also undergone multiple surgeries & procedures including a ketamine infusion and nerve blockers.
Dominique and Helene met through social media only just last year, after sharing their experiences with Endometriosis and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It was then that The Spoonie Society was born! With Dom’s entrepreneurial spirit and marketing insight, and Helene’s knowledge around fashion design The Spoonie Society has just gone from strength to strength in the mere months that they’ve been running. Together Dominique and Helene hope that through The Spoonie Society, chronic illness sufferers will find their voice and help gain awareness on chronic illnesses.
