About this listen

We are a third of the way through the 2025 legislative session, and there are a few more key bills we’re monitoring. These bills affect us as real estate professionals, but also protect consumers and support private property rights. A really important bill that’s moving through legislation is centered on secondary fire insurance and how it’s affecting homeowners’ insurance. In light of the recent uptick in fires in Nevada and California, insurance companies are increasing rates or even canceling their coverage. As we know, homes can’t be sold without insurance. This will affect the health of our market and people’s ability to achieve and hold onto the dream of homeownership. The last thing our market and consumers need is a rash of foreclosures because homeowners’ insurance has become unaffordable. How can this issue be addressed? What other bills do we need to be aware of right now? In this episode, Nevada REALTORS® Legislative Chair, Azim Jessa is joined by former Legislative Chair and real estate legend, Keith Lynam.
