  • Our Esquina launched with a panel discussion on Jan. 22, 2021, with four Latino trailblazers who were the first in their respective positions in American history.

    Albert Gonzales, the first Latino Attorney General in U.S. history, was joined by the first Latino president in NBA history, Gersson Rosas; the first Latino general manager in MLB history, Omar Minaya, and the first Latina to serve as a commissioner of a Division I conference, Gloria Nevarez.

    Co-hosted by Vanderbilt University's Sports and Society Initiative, the panel was moderated by best-selling author Andrew Maraniss.
