Empezó a jugar al fútbol de niño, en las calles y algún campo de tierra del Polígono de San Pablo, barrio obrero de Sevilla. Estuvo a punto de ser mecánico. Marcó el 13-1 a Malta, gol anulado por fuera de juego, y jugó con escasa suerte el único Mundial organizado en España. Recordado por su peculiar estilo de correr la banda y buscar portería con las medias bajadas, contabilizó 75 internacionalidades con España. Un bético futbolista, que sigue vinculado a su equipo desde niño.
