La troisième étape du Giro entre Vlorë et Vlorë (160 km) a été remportée au sprint ce dimanche par Mads Pedersen, qui reprend par la même occasion le maillot rose de leader avant de quitter l'Albanie pour retrouver l'Italie, à partir de mardi entre Alberobello (Pietramadre) et Lecce (189 km), pour une étape a priori réservée aux sprinteurs. Joshua Tarling (Ineos Grenadiers) s'était imposé samedi sur le contre-la-montre de 13,7 kilomètres disputé à Tirana, lors de la deuxième étape. Primoz Roglic (Red Bull Bora), 2e pour une seconde derrière Tarling, a envoyé un premier message à ses adversaires dont Juan Ayuso. Malheureusement, Mikel Landa a abandonné sur chute sur la première étape.
