Trump recently said that he’s trying to get into heaven - hoping that ending the war in Ukraine will be his ticket.

But here’s the funny thing (or should I say not so funny thing), salvation isn’t dependent on works. According to the Holy Bible, it’s a free gift of eternal life. All you have to do is believe that Jesus died on the cross and covered our sins. The hallmark verse of Christianity is John 3:16.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life."

But where are all the Christians to point this out? Where is the evangelical right that he has such a hold on? Where are the right-wing Christian pundits to correct the record? Even his vice president seems to think that heaven is earned.

With the National Guard rolling out troops and humvees across our capital, it’s a question worth asking. When the federal or state government declares martial law it’s the complete suspension of all local laws, civil authority, and local judiciaries. The commanding officer substitutes temporary laws and military tribunals. The Military commander has virtually unlimited authority to govern an area. Surprisingly, the Constitution doesn’t define nor does it specify who can declare martial law. Despite this, federal and state governments had declared martial law more than 60 times. In fact, SCOTUS has held that states can declare martial law, but has never said a president can.

Since Representative Thomas Massie is one of the few politicians with more than a single digit IQ, he managed to no only read the "One Big Beautiful Bill" but also find this little nugget:

“No State or political subdivision thereof may enforce any law or regulation regulating artificial intelligence models, artificial intelligence systems, or automated decision systems during the 10-year period beginning on the date of the enactment of this Act.”

As Rep. Massie points out, this “would make it easier for corporations to get zoning variances, so massive AI data centers could be built in close proximity to residential areas.” But is this a reality? Is the demand for AI data centers that pressing? Yes.

Can Trump Make Alcatraz Great Again? That’s the plan.. But before we decide whether that’s a feasible or just policy goal - what is it?

Today it’s a tourist attraction nestled near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. But Alcatraz’s history spans 175 years. President Millard Filmore declared the island a military reservation in 1850. By the end of the decade, troops were permanently garrisoned at the post on Alcatraz for the defense of the Bay Area. In 1934, Alcatraz transitioned into a federal penitentiary and remained as one for 29 years. The prison housed more than 1,500 inmates.

We should be re-reading the Constitution and reminding ourselves that life liberty and the pursuit of happiness should be the goal of the government; not to have them invent cruel ways to lock us and our neighbors up.

H.R. 867 is known as the Antisemitism Awareness Act. It codifies a Trump-era executive order by amending the Anti-Boycott Act of 2018. The Antisemitism Awareness Act would declare that antisemitism is a prohibited form of discrimination in schools and universities. According to the legislation, it would use the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s working definition of antisemitism in assessing cases of antisemitic discrimination through the Department of Education.

In case you forgot, this is the same Dept of Ed that Trump, MAGA and MAGA politicians want to abolish. They’re literally against something while also being for that same thing.

So what are the penalties? Fines up to $1 million and up to 20 years in prison. Talk about chilling free speech.
