About this listen

The Canucks have their top prospect, Braeden Cootes, sign on the dotted line for his 1st NHL contract! Matt and Blake talk about what it means for the team, especially in light of the new NCAA rules for CHL players. Cootes isn't going to be there on opening night for the Canucks, but who will be? The guys look at the myriad of possibilities as it stands so far, and in particular, look at the likely top 6 wingers that will be used out of the gate. Postmedia's Patrick Johnston joins the discussion on lines and chemistry and gives his confidence level in an Evander Kane renaissance season, amongst several other wingers who are also looking to bounce back. PJ also takes on the topic of dressing room leadership, and if the team can operate differently this season despite so many familiar faces. Then it's The Daily Hive's Rob Williams with his thoughts on how waiver eligibility may affect Canucks roster decisions, who might graduate from Abbotsford to the NHL, and he lets us know how he has mocked up the Canucks lines for the opener. Then the guys finish up with a look back at a narrow Whitecaps win in the Canadian Championship quarterfinal, and the Jays do the unthinkable and finally lose?!
