  • Ep. 2460 Cotarella Confidential: A heart-to-heart with Enrica Cotarella | On the Road with Stevie Kim
    Sep 7 2025
Welcome to Episode 2460 of the Italian Wine Podcast, Cotarella Confidential: A heart-to-heart with Enrica Cotarella. In this episode of IWP On the Road Edition, Stevie Kim is in conversation with Enrica Cotarella, head of marketing and PR at the Famiglia Cotarella. Enrica explains the origins of the family business, Famiglia Cotarella; the role of the three "sisters", Dominga, Marta and Enrica, the third generation of the Cotarella family who now run the family business; the company's flagship labels; the importance of native/indigenous varieties; the philosophy behind the company's hospitality academy, Intrecci; and the work of the family's charitable foundation. More about today’s guest: Famiglia Cotarella’s winemaking roots date back to the 1960s, when Antonio and Domenico Cotarella, grape-growers in Monterubiaglio, built their first winery to produce their own wine. In 1979, the next generation, brothers Renzo and Riccardo Cotarella, founded Falesco in Montefiascone, northern Lazio, with the aim of recovering and reinterpreting ancient local varieties. From this pioneering beginning, the family gradually expanded into Umbria and Tuscany. Today, Famiglia Cotarella brings together a portfolio of prestigious estates: Tenuta Est! Est!! Est!!! di Montefiascone and Tenuta Montiano in Lazio, Tenuta Marciliano and Tenuta Vitiano in Umbria, and Tenuta Le Macioche in Montalcino, Tuscany. Now under the leadership of the third generation, sisters Dominga, Marta, and Enrica Cotarella, the family continues to honor its legacy while shaping the future of Italian wine. Enrica, as Head of Marketing and PR, works alongside her sisters to expand the family’s vision, which today extends beyond winemaking to include Intrecci, their High-Quality Service Academy, Liaison, a distribution brand, and the Cotarella Foundation, dedicated to social and cultural initiatives.
