In our third episode we will dive into the life journey of perhaps the most conflicted character of the Mahabharat epic, Karan. He was someone who always wanted to do the right thing but couldn’t because of the oath he took. His oath bound him to Duryodhan, who was the antagonist of the story. When we go through the life story of Karan we learn how important it is not to give someone your blind loyalty as this one decision can possibly control your every action. But before we start Karan’s journey it’s important we explore his past life and the actions he took that finally caught up with him and led to his demise.
As always, all stories for this episode will be based on research done over a period of years from various written and folk sources. Minor variations exist between texts and no one author has sole accepted canonship of these religious scripts- I’m simply using the text I am most familiar with.
