In this first episode we discuss the history of the NIH to gather an understanding of how politics and science are directly connected. With that understanding we examine contemporary issues like lack of public trust in science, how to communicate science effectively to the American population and lawmakers. Towards the end of the episode we discuss ways that each of us can be more proactive about ensuring the public in our sliver of the world has access to scientific knowledge.
