About this listen
The First Aid Quality Partnership (FAQP) has advised that first aid training should include teaching the use of improvised tourniquets and wound packing for life-threatening bleeding.
For workplaces with specific bleeding risks, the FAQP recommends employers follow HSE guidance and consider manufactured tourniquets and haemostatic dressings. Training providers should confirm these techniques are covered in their courses.
