About this listen

In this episode, Chloe Smith and Emerson Meadows travel to discuss the disturbing true crime case of Charlie Brandt, a seemingly normal man who hid a dark past.

Brandt, an engineer living in Florida with his wife Teri, appeared to have a picture-perfect life. However, in 2004, after evacuating due to Hurricane Ivan, he shockingly murdered his wife and niece, Michelle, before taking his own life. Michelle’s friend discovered his body hanging in the garage, leading police to uncover the gruesome crime scene inside the house.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that this was not Charlie’s first murder. In 1971, at just 13 years old, he had killed his own pregnant mother and attempted to kill his father and sister, Angela. Due to his young age, his record was sealed, and he went on to live a seemingly normal life—until he snapped again decades later.
