About this listen
The How Is He Podcast | Ep. 72
Paddy Cahill - had a love for sport growing up and played GAA for Kilbride/Mysall and Tullow community School as a GK. Once finished school he went straight into nursing and stopped playing GAA - Ardattin FC came calling then and he played with them until he sustained a bad back injury. He then ended up coaching soccer in New Oak when his son and daughter started playing. Around this time an ad came up for the head coach position with the special olympics team in Carlow. Paddy applied and got the role on a voluntary basis. When he started there were around 12 players that's grown now to 25 players. The volumes meant that Carlow could afford to have 2 teams. The A team has dominated the region and have won Leinster 4 years in a row.and the b team have been runners up 3 times in a row. In 2024 this Carlow team were picked to represent Ireland and they traveled to Spain to compete in the Euros. The team went all the way to the semi final but finished third overall.
