 July 20, 2025 ~ The Michigan War Dog Memorial is a non-profit organization whose mission is to honor the furry friends that walked alongside military members during military operations. Vice President of Operations Clint Symons said the work of this organization is to continue the restoration of the group's memorial site into a park, while maintaining that setting for the purpose of allowing the interment of retired military working dogs and retired service dogs. Veronkia Scott, the founder and CEO of the Empowerment Plan, talks about the program that helps those they employ achieve stability and prepare for long-term success by supporting them with the tools, skills, and resources to navigate life events. Everyone they employ moves out of a shelter and obtains stable housing while at the Empowerment Plan.
