About this listen

In the 16th century, a group of French protestants crossed the ocean in order to escape religious persecution in Europe. In Brazil, they were promised religious freedom, however, life took such a strange turn, that some abandoned the French colony and went to live among the native tribe called Tupinamba. One of them is Jean de Lery, who years later wrote a memoir about his experience among the natives, a remarkable "rift in time", bursting with wonder and distress.
