Helen Bobiwash is Anishinabe kwe from the Thessalon First Nation and N’Swakamok (Sudbury) in Ontario.  She is a proud mother to Mzhiikenh, her 18-year-old son. Helen is an independent accountant.  She was recognized by CPA Ontario as a Fellow for her contributions to the accounting professions and to the communities.  Helen has traveled across Ontario working with First Nations and Indigenous organizations for approximately 25 years.  Her services focus on bridging financial capacity within Indigenous communities. Helen has a passion for sharing her financial knowledge with other Indigenous people.  Growing up in poverty, what Helen learned from her family was “We can’t afford it”. She’s experienced firsthand how financial decisions can set a person back from, or toward, their goals. Her aim is to share her knowledge and experience so people can avoid some of the mistakes she made. Listen in as Helen walks us through her experiences as an entrepreneur, and provides some financial tips and tricks she has acquired throughout her accounting career!
