About this listen
Season 4, episode 2 of the Healthy Ageing podcast where we are continuing our discussion on Skincare. This week Susie is flying solo (no Lorraine) but is joined by an absolute expert in all things skin - Fiona McMahon from Salon Allure.
Fiona has been in the beauty industry for over 20 years and has a wealth of experience across all areas of the industry. When she started she was all about the glam and loved helping people with external transformations - lashes, tan, nails etc. Following the break-up of her marriage she went back to college to complete her HNC in Beauty Therapy but was unhappy with elements of the training so continued her education privately and trained with some of the biggest names in the industry. It was at this time that she found her passion for skin and with a love of science she has a deep understanding of HOW products work and what actually works to help people to achieve what they are looking for when it comes to skincare.
At her salon she works with a number of devices including the CACI machine which offers non-surgical facelifts and if you visit Fiona she will give you a completely bespoke or prescription facial depending on your wants and needs - there is no one size fits all! We think that speaks volumes to Fiona’s skills and expertise.
This discussion covered a lot! From the basics required if you are looking to get started with a skincare routine to what peptides are and why they are important and how to implement and use a retinol product.
Something that we loved about this one was the holistic discussion around skincare and the importance of eating well, hydrating and using supplements within your routine. Fiona said ‘people underestimate the power of combining skincare with internal care, it takes your skin to a whole new level’.
This was an education for us and Fiona has an amazing way of explaining what can be a confusing subject matter! We absolutely loved it. Have a listen and let us know what you think!
