Today’s special guest, James E Hibbard, may not be a household name, but I’m pretty sure you’ve seen him in many classic movies and TV shows.
In a career spanning over 65 years, our guest has been a highly respected dancer, singer, actor, choreographer, director and teacher. His list of credits is truly jaw dropping. He’s appeared in dozens of iconic movies including “Gypsy”, “Bye Bye Birdie”, “The Swinger”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, ‘Hello Dolly”, “Finian’s Rainbow”, “Marriage on the Rocks”, and a staggering total of SIX movies with Elvis Presley: “Viva Las Vegas”, “Kissin’ Cousins”, “Girl Happy”, “Roustabout”, “Spinout”, “Clambake” and “Easy Come, Easy Go”. On television, he’s appeared in a whole slew of classic shows like “The Beverly Hillbillies”, “Batman”, “The Lucy Show”, “MacGyver”, and as a dancer and choreographer, he’s worked on numerous variety shows and TV Specials with Dean Martin, Tom Jones, Paul Anka, Bobby Vinton, Anne Murray, Nancy Sinatra, Ann-Margret, Peggy Fleming, and he even choreographed the 2002 TV movie, “It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie”.
He’s worked with the greatest legendary stars in history including Mickey Rooney, Donald O’Connor, Julie Andrews, Elvis Presley, Ann-Margret, Diana Ross, Sonny & Cher, Raquel Welch, Tina Turner, James Brown, The Beach Boys, The Mamas and the Papas – and believe me, I’m just scratching the surface. On stage, our guest has worked in productions of “West Side Story”, “Anything Goes”, “Godspell”, “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”, “Cabaret”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Guys and Dolls”, “The Pajama Game”, and he also appeared in the world premiere of the rock opera, “Tommy”, at the Aquarius Theatre in Los Angeles.
And his most recent film and television appearances include movies like “Wrongfully Accused”, “Angels in the End Zone” and “Good Boys”, and TV movies including “The Swinging Nutcracker”, “Descendants” and “Descendants 3” and “Freaky Friday”, and TV series including “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist”, “Julie and the Phantoms”, “The Man in the High Castle”, “Batwoman” and “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies”.
In 2003, the West Coast Tap Collective honoured our guest with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2004, he received a star on the British Columbia Entertainment Walk of Fame.
