創作背景
此詩的發想最初是在帶領到詩歌《哈巴谷之禱》、介紹哈巴谷書背景的時候，想到可以將哈巴谷書的背景寫進詩歌中來更完整地闡述先知流離歌的意義，遂著手創作而成此詩。
本曲歌詞以哈巴谷書經文為主軸，主要內容取自第三章的流離歌，並大致按照哈巴谷書的架構編排順序。全曲分為兩大段，中間以一小段過門銜接：
第一大段 (M.1-69) 用先知向神禱告的口吻，先寫神興起迦勒底人刑罰的緣由與神拯救選民的最終目的 (M.1-38)，再寫迦勒底人必將受審的結局 (M.39-70)。曲調上使用極為強烈的旋律，一方面描繪戰爭被擄的景象，一方面也描寫神審判之日的可畏、以及先知戰兢等候的心情。
中間銜接段 (M.70-85) 寫出 3:16-17 遍地荒涼的景象，曲調也轉為安靜，如同戰事已過的淒涼。
第二大段 (M.86-124) 以慢板的女高音獨唱與合唱交替唱出先知最後 3:18-19 靠神喜樂的宣告，也從其引用的大衛得勝詩歌（撒下 22:34、詩 18:33）寫出先知倚靠神脫離一切仇敵的心，最終以因信得生的應許收尾。曲調中同時保留部分第一段的動機，描寫先知如同在審判的餘悸之下仍用信心看見神拯救的盼望。
