About this listen

Long ago, even before shiny medals became the symbol of victory, plants held the highest honour in the Olympic Games.

Twenty-eight centuries ago, the Greeks chose plants to represent the awards given to the champions, adorning their heads with wreaths made of sacred olive leaves.

This ancient practice, which combines the world of plants with athletic excellence, has stood the test of time.

Nowadays, although modern Olympians are awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals, the tradition continues in the form of beautiful bouquets that accompany these medals, serving as a reminder of the Games' roots in nature.
