About this listen

In this final episode of series two, author, podcaster, and actor Giovanna Fletcher takes us on a tour of her old haunts in Essex. As well as her life as a performer, Giovanna opens up about her journey through various jobs, sharing stories she’s never revealed before.

Our journey begins and ends in the small town of Ingatestone, winding through Chelmsford and Hylands Park, taking in places of huge significance including the local community centre, her old family home and school. Passing the local Catholic church, she reflects on her Italian heritage, and as we head toward Chelmsford, Giovanna candidly recounts her experiences with bullying and her transformative years at the Sylvia Young Theatre School; a place which later in life included an unforgettable marriage proposal experience.

In Chelmsford, Giovanna tells amazing story about her favourite nightclub from her youth. We visit a place where McFly have performed, we discover the pros and cons to co-authoring with your husband and how writing books led to becoming a passionate podcaster.
