  • Pt. 9 Do Not Lie | The Ten
    Aug 19 2025

    The Ten | Week 9 | August 17, 2025

    Text: Exodus 20:16 / 1 John 1:5–10

Speaker: Jonathan BeamesThe ninth commandment is about more than lying in court. John reminds us that dishonesty, whether with our words, our actions, or even with ourselves, contradicts the very character of God, who is light and truth. Lies dishonor God by insulting His character, they dishonor others by breaking trust, and they dishonor us by convincing us we can find life apart from Christ. Key Points: - Dishonesty hurts God, Others and Us

    - We offend God by insulting his character

    - We hurt others by betraying a relational trust.

    - In Our Darkness, Jesus Offers Authentic Life

    Speaker: Jonathan Beames

Everybody steals. Greed lives in every human heart, whether through taking what isn’t ours or refusing to give what God calls us to. When Jesus called Zaccheus, the chief tax collector, He didn’t just save him from sin. He transformed him into a man of radical generosity. • Pt. 7 Adultery & Lust | The Ten
    Aug 4 2025

    The Ten | Week 7 | August 4, 2025

    Text: Exodus 20:14 / Matthew 5:27-30

    Speaker: Jonathan Beames

Lust isn't just a temptation. It kills us from the inside out. Jesus takes the seventh commandment and shows us that our lustful thoughts that we are all guilty of are just as deadly as physical adultery. We have to confront the shame that surrounds sexual sin with the hope that only grace can provide in Christ.

    Key Points:

    - The Problem: Lust Kills

    - Lust Denies the Personhood of Fellow Image Bearers.

    - Lust Rejects God’s Design for Marriage (thus it is an attack on God’s authority)

    - Lust Affirms Our Self Idolatry (breaks the first three commandments)

    - Kill Your Lust at All Cost (Matthew 5:29-30)

    Hebrews 12:4 ; Titus 2:11-14

    - Fight Your Lust through the Grace of Christ

Shame says righteousness must be earned. Grace says righteousness is given.

Shame says you can’t control your desires. Grace says all your desires are fulfilled in Christ.

Shame says the only way to deal with your problem is to cover it up. Grace says God already knows your sin and he offers you freedom and hope in confession.

    Speaker: Jonathan Beames

What do your parents have to do with your walk with God? What do they have to do with your relationship with others? Text: Exodus 20:8-11

    Speaker: Jonathan Beames

Why does God command a day of rest and why does it have to be the seventh day? Sabbath rest was always meant to point beyond physical renewal to a deeper, eternal rest found only in Christ. • Pt. 2 God Wants Your Heart | The Ten
    Jun 23 2025

Text: Exodus 20:3-6 Speaker: Jonathan Beames What does it mean that God is jealous? And why does He care so much about what we worship? Would it surprise you that his jealous comes from His deep, abounding love for you? He wants us to know that when we give our hearts to anything less than Him, we rob ourselves of the very thing our souls need most.

    Key Points:

    - Idolatry is Giving Your Heart to Anyone or Anything Other than Christ

    Colossians 3:5

    - We commit idolatry in our everyday desires.

    - We commit idolatry in our worship.

    - Give your heart completely to Christ
