Everybody steals. Greed lives in every human heart, whether through taking what isn’t ours or refusing to give what God calls us to. When Jesus called Zaccheus, the chief tax collector, He didn’t just save him from sin. He transformed him into a man of radical generosity. The gospel doesn’t only turn us from greed; it transforms us toward generosity.

The Ten | Week 7 | August 4, 2025

Text: Exodus 20:14 / Matthew 5:27-30

Lust isn't just a temptation. It kills us from the inside out. Jesus takes the seventh commandment and shows us that our lustful thoughts that we are all guilty of are just as deadly as physical adultery. We have to confront the shame that surrounds sexual sin with the hope that only grace can provide in Christ.

Shame says righteousness must be earned. Grace says righteousness is given.

Shame says you can’t control your desires. Grace says all your desires are fulfilled in Christ.

Shame says the only way to deal with your problem is to cover it up. Grace says God already knows your sin and he offers you freedom and hope in confession.

We tend to think we’re in the clear because we haven’t committed murder, but Jesus says the real issue begins much deeper. Jesus tells us that anger, contempt, and passive bitterness are just as dangerous, and He commands us to pursue reconciliation with urgency.

God uses human authority, especially our parents, to shape us into the image of Christ to honor Him. It's not just about obedience in the home; it's about a heart that can submit to and trust God.

Why does God command a day of rest and why does it have to be the seventh day? Sabbath rest was always meant to point beyond physical renewal to a deeper, eternal rest found only in Christ. More than just a break from work, the Sabbath invites us to remember God’s rhythm of creation, redemption, and restoration.

The Ten | Week 3 | June 29, 2025

Text: Exodus 20:7 / Matthew 5:33-37

How do you talk about God and how do you talk to Him? What does it really mean to “take the Lord’s name in vain"? Honesty in worship matters more than we think. From careless prayers to dishonest praise, Jesus confronts a religious culture of loopholes and redirects us toward a life of integrity before God.
