Film vs Film Podcast

By: Film vs Film Podcast
  • Summary

  • This is a film podcast where we pick our favourite film topic, like a director, actor or genre, any subject related to film. Martin the host and Boaz or sometimes a guest, each pick a film to discuss from that topic. We discuss them in three different aspects of each film, Directing, screenplay and acting. Then we rank each aspect out of ten. Plus we pick our favourite shot or scenes, lines and performances. At the end we tally the points and see who wins.

This episode as the Thunderbolts* is out in the cinemas around the world, and for me is still a better name than the new title which was revealed after the opening weekend! I think the avengers will have something to say about that. Anyway moan over. But we are all here for once actor only for this film and that actor is of course the phenomenal Florence Pugh. So we'll be discussing the best work from her filmography. Joining me to talk all things Pugh, are the fantastic John and Georgia from the Comfort Films Podcast. And you know what this means, hold on to your head phones, it's gonna be a long one.

Warning we will be talking SPOILERS

Martin’s turn to not put up a fight with Midsommar. Martin is going for maybe the forgotten film of Florence Pugh's Career, the Netflix film, The Wonder. On this one we talk a lot about the behind the scenes aspects of the film that opens and closes the film and wether it actually works. We talk about how the interestingly the film is structured the keep you guessing. We again talk about the brilliance of Florence Pugh's acting ability. Plus we about Jaws. Don't worry, it will make sense, I think. IMDB page

John and Georgia to go first with their pick. They have got for the film that coined the infamous Florence Pugh frown, Midsommar. On this one, what didn't we talk about! But i'll try and summarise. We talk about how subtle, simple and crazy in an incredible way the directing is from Ari Aster. We talk about the incredible acting from Florence Pugh and how deep she goes with her raw emotions. Plus we talk about bears, and the butt pushing lady. IMDB page.

    May 2 2025

Send us a text about your favourite films relating to the episode.

Welcome back to another spoiler special, and this time we are spoiling arguably the best film of the year so far, Sinners. The new horror, gangster, historical, vampire, musical film, or however you want to call it from the brilliant Ryan Coogler. Of course I can't talk about this magnificent film alone, I am joined by a horror movie expert returning to the spoiler specials, Tommy from Haven’t Scene It: A Movie Pod. On this one, where to start? We talk about how well paced this film is in terms of it's structure. We debate wether an argument can be made that this film is in fact a musical. We talk all kinds of sub text, gore, blood, sex and IMAX film. Plus I say 'Sammmmy!!' multiple times.
